Changes expected to come to 3SquaresVT program
The Vermont Food Help website is tracking possible changes in eligibility for food help through 3SquaresVT (also called SNAP). Upcoming changes may impact some people in Vermont who currently get 3SquaresVT to support their grocery costs.
What's important to know right now is that Vermont's Economic Services Division is working to understand these changes and will notify people when there are changes in Vermont.
Scam alert!
Scammers are targeting 3SquaresVT participants through calls, texts, social media and emails. Don’t let them steal your benefits! Do not provide your EBT card information to anyone. If you are not sure if something is a scam, call the EBT customer service line directly at 1-800-914-8605.
3SquaresVT is available to help you meet your family’s food needs. Even if you have never received 3SquaresVT before, you should apply if your income has changed and your family is experiencing food insecurity.
3SquaresVT is Vermont’s food stamp program. 3SquaresVT helps low-income individuals and families buy food. Each month the Department for Children and Families Economic Services Division (DCF/ESD) deposits money into a debit card like a bank card.
The bank card is called the “Vermont EBT card.” Most Vermont grocery, convenience store, and some farmers markets accept Vermont EBT cards. If you are age 65 or over, or get Supplemental Security Income (SSI), you can get a cash benefit deposited into your bank account.
You can buy most foods with your Vermont EBT card. You can’t buy non-food items like tobacco, soap, toothpaste, pet products, pet food and alcohol with your 3SquaresVT benefits. Every time you buy food with your card, the amount is taken from the money in your Vermont EBT account. Your receipt will show you what is left on your card.
