If you own a business that was damaged by a natural disaster, call the Vermont Agency of Commerce and Community Development (ACCD) at 802-828-3211 to report damage. The reports will be collected for Vermont Emergency Management and FEMA.
ACCD will make referrals for financing and technical assistance. You will need the following information when you call:
- The name of your business
- The location (complete address) of your business
- Description of the damage
- The date the damage happened
- Name and contact information of the person to contact for follow up
- Additional information will be needed if you have a historic property
There is an Emergency Flood Assistance Program for Businesses. This program is administered by the Vermont Economic Development Authority (VEDA). It provides $10 million of low interest, no first year payment loans to businesses that suffered losses due to flooding. If you own a business and are interested in applying for a loan, go to the VEDA website for more information.
The U.S. Small Business Administration also provides low interest disaster loans. Businesses can apply if they suffered physical property damage or economic injury. If your business suffered economic injury, you can apply for assistance, even if your business is not located in the disaster area. You can apply online here. For more information, visit www.sba.gov, call SBA at 1-800-659-2955, or email questions to firstname.lastname@example.org.
