About Us
About the Vermont Law Help Website
We provide legal information for low-income people in the
State of Vermont. This includes easy-to-read self-help
information on topics such as divorce and tenants rights,
Medicaid and food stamps, employment and education, as well
as information about free legal services in Vermont.
The legal information on the Vermont Law Help site was
developed primarily by Legal Services Law Line of Vermont and
Vermont
Legal Aid. We also got help from many other people and
groups including our friends at HelpMELaw.org and Pine Tree Legal Assistance in Maine.
Our Advisory Committee helps us make sure we have
all the information we should on the site. The Advisory Committee
also helps us make sure people can read and understand the
information on our site.
There is no substitute for meeting with a lawyer about your
legal problem. None of the information available through the
Vermont Law Help site is intended to be legal advice. We cannot
act as your lawyer. We can help some people find a free lawyer.
Also, we hope that the information you find here will help you
to understand the law better.
We Need Your Help
The Vermont Law Help website is a new thing. We hope it will be
useful to low-income people in Vermont. To make it work, we need
your help. Send us Comments and tell us your problems with
our site, your ideas for improvement, or even to tell us things you
like about the site. Without your help it will be much harder
for us to know how we are doing. Thank you.
Technology
The Vermont Law Help website is an interactive, database-driven
website built using open source software, principally Zope. Open
source software is subject only to an open source license, and is
generally available for free. Development of the site was done by
Kaivo, a technology company in Denver, Colorado.
